Frequently Asked Questions

  • What payment methods does Loving Ceremony accept, and how does the payment process work?
Loving Ceremony accepts payments via cash, check, payment through the funeral home, or Zelle. After discussing your options, we'll send you an invoiced quote for the selected services, which is due prior to the scheduled phone consultation. We want to ensure that you feel confident in moving forward with our services before securing payment, so you'll have the opportunity to review the quote and discuss any questions or concerns you may have.
  • Do you typically tip a celebrant?
Gratuities aren't an expectation, yet our team appreciates any gesture of gratitude for their personalized service honoring your loved one.
  • What role does a celebrant play in a ceremony, and how versatile is their involvement?
A celebrant serves as a central figure in the ceremony, capable of officiating the entire service with personalized content reflecting the deceased's beliefs. They can also collaborate with clergy, involve family and friends in various parts of the service, or even act as a master of ceremonies if the family prefers to officiate their own service, ensuring a meaningful and cohesive ceremony tailored to the family's wishes.
  • How far in advance should I book a service with Loving Ceremony?
We recommend booking as soon as possible to ensure availability, especially for peak times on the weekends. Each service is crafted just for your loved one, and we pride ourselves in putting in the time and effort so that it is reflective of your wishes and their life.
  • How do you personalize a service for someone you've never met?
To craft a meaningful tribute to your loved one, your celebrant will arrange a phone or in-person meeting (subject to availability and location) to gather information. Through discussions encompassing biographical details, anecdotes, interests, passions, and beliefs, we gain insight to tailor the service to reflect your loved one's unique essence and honor their life.
  • Does a celebrant replace a priest, rabbi, deacon, etc?
While we honor and accommodate all religious beliefs, our intention is not to replace esteemed clergy members. We customize the level of religious inclusion in your service based on your preferences. Should you desire clergy involvement, we gladly collaborate with your chosen clergy to ensure a cohesive service, with the celebrant overseeing non-religious aspects.

While Loving Ceremony cannot guarantee compatibility with all venues, we have chosen MP4 as the most compatible format to ensure widespread support. MP4 is widely recognized for its compatibility and versatility. This format is universally supported by digital devices, media players, and operating systems like Windows and iOS. MP4 files are compact yet offer high-quality video, with minimal loss of quality during compression. Please consult with your venue to confirm compatibility with MP4 files and their preferred method of video delivery, whether via email, flash drive, playable DVD, or other options.
  • How can I submit my photos and videos to Loving Ceremony?
We'll provide you with a secure link accessible on both your phone and computer, allowing you to easily upload your photos and videos to our system. You can share this link with anyone you'd like to assist you. However, please note that anyone with the link will have access to upload photos. To ensure efficiency and accuracy, we recommend appointing one main contact person to organize and review the submissions before they're added to the Tribute Video.
  • Can we use our own music in the Tribute Video?
With Loving Ceremony, you can upload music to the videos that you are creating. However, you need to know the laws surrounding it. There is a common misconception in the industry that it is okay to purchase a song from iTunes or Amazon and upload it for use in a memorial video. Legally, this is not the case. Songs being used in videos must have what is called a synchronization license. If you downloaded the song through iTunes, STOP! Unfortunately, iTunes has made it so that any music you take from their software will not be compliant with any other software. This is for licensing reasons. The song will only play clearly through their software. If you upload iTunes music to Loving Ceremony, you could have problems with the music sounding as if it is underwater. Our best suggestion to alleviate this problem is to use our stock music. To be in compliance with music licensing and to protect you and Loving Ceremony, we will not burn physical hard copies of DVDs, Memory Drives, Video Books, and Bookshelf Boxes with videos containing non-stock music. Synchronization License: This is the right to synchronize a song or a piece of music with your visual image. It must be obtained from the copyright owner of the music, which is usually the publisher. You can find out who the publisher is by using ASCAP's Clearance Express (ACE) at www.ascap.com/ace. Songs that are not represented by ASCAP might be found at HFA (www.harryfox.com). You will be provided with a contact at the publisher's Business Affairs or Licensing Department. To keep out of trouble, it is best to use the songs from our library. If you have a family member who wrote, performed, and recorded their songs, they own all of the rights to it, and they permit you to use it in the video, then you are okay to upload those songs. Otherwise, it is best to avoid uploading your music. For this cause, we are unable to ship physical products that contain user-uploaded music for licensing reasons. We have added a statement to the Upload Music section of the website that states, "By clicking “Agree and Accept,” you represent that you have obtained all appropriate licenses for any music you upload to Loving Ceremony, and you will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Loving Ceremony and all of their respective owners, employees, agents, successors, and assigns from any claims of third parties arising from your breach of this representation."
  • Can we use our own music playlist with the Tribute Video?
If you wish to synchronize your Tribute Video with a specific playlist played through an audio system, adjust the video length to match your playlist duration and mute the video volume. For video clips with desired audio, refrain from adding background music to the Tribute Video to maintain audio clarity.
  • How do I receive my Tribute Video DVD?
If you've engaged Loving Ceremony for celebrant services, your celebrant will personally deliver the DVD on the day of the service. If you require the video earlier for other funeral arrangements, we recommend using the provided MP4 file to avoid shipping fees. For clients not utilizing our celebrant services, a standard shipping fee of $9.95 via USPS will be applied. Expedited shipping options are available at additional rates. To bypass shipping charges, we advise utilizing the MP4 file provided.
  • How are charms chosen for a keepsake?
During the consultation, your celebrant seeks to identify a significant aspect of your loved one's life or passion, such as gardening, travel, animals, or their profession. This ensures the keepsakes hold sentimental value for years to come. While we aim to accommodate specific charm requests, please understand that quick turnaround times between consultation and service may limit availability.
  • What materials are used for the keepsake keychains?
Our keepsake keychains, charms, and tassels are sourced from reliable suppliers to ensure quick availability. Typically, the keychains and charms are crafted from silver or gold-tone metal, with occasional exceptions for materials like acrylic or plastic when they better suit the chosen theme. Tassels are made from leather and/or cotton, depending on your preference.
  • How many keepsakes are included with a celebrant service?
We include 25 keepsakes for the immediate family. If you wish to provide keepsakes for all attendees, additional quantities can be arranged for a fee, in increments of 25. Please inform us of your expected guest count and if you'd like extras for those unable to attend.
  • Are we limited to keychains for keepsakes?
Absolutely not. We offer a wide range of alternative options to suit your loved one and the occasion. This includes custom poker chips, memorial seed packets, personalized golf balls, and many more possibilities. Please note that different choices may have varied lead times and additional costs. Our team will work with you to find options that align with your expectations and budget, ensuring complete transparency before proceeding with procurement.
